Microsoft has promised to complete the rollout of Windows 11 by the summer of 2022. In other words, some people would have to wait longer than others before Windows 11 shows up on their devices, and of course, a manual upgrade isn’t by any means recommended unless you know exactly what you’re doing.Īs it turns out, owners of the Surface Pro X have a very simple (yet painful) way to trigger the upgrade to Windows 11 on their devices: just reset the laptop and the new operating system should then show up as an automatic upgrade.Īs discovered by someone on reddit, if you reset the Surface Pro X, the OOBE experience includes an “Upgrade to Windows 11” button that allows the device to automatically download the new operating system and then install it, so the next time it boots, it gets you straight to the new desktop.
Microsoft started the rollout of Windows 11 earlier this week, but as the company said on several occasions, the whole thing takes place in stages, so not everybody receives the new OS at the same time.
